Invisalign in Michigan: Your Clear Choice

January 23, 2014

Very few people are born with a red-carpet smile. That’s where Southfield Family Dental Center comes in! We offer Zoom Whitening, and we can help you learn more about braces and teeth straightening for children and adults.

Some people are nervous about getting braces because of the clunky metal version perpetuated by Hollywood humor. But achieving a beautiful and straight smile doesn’t have to include traditional braces

Southfield Family Dental Center is proud to offer a clear alternative option for straightening teeth called Invisalign, which uses a series of invisible, removable and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing.

Here are some of the most common questions we hear about Invisalign!

Q: How is Invisalign different than traditional braces?

A: Not only does Invisalign effectively straighten teeth, Invisalign aligners are comfortable and durable, and they provide patients with the opportunity to enjoy favorite activities - like playing sports and instruments - that can be challenging while wearing traditional braces. Also, Invisalign is nearly invisible! And since Invisalign aligners are removable, patients can take them out at meal times, as well as to properly brush and floss to maintain hygiene during treatment. Finally, Invisalign treatment has fewer emergencies since there are no wires or brackets to break or stick.

Q: How does Invisalign work?

A:  Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. When the aligners are put in place, they help teeth to gradually shift from their current position. After approximately two weeks, patients will begin using a second set of aligners, which will continue the teeth straightening process.

Q: Is Invisalign as effective as regular braces?

A: Yes, depending on the case. Invisalign can be completely effective for some types of orthodontic issues, but there also are times when braces may be the optimal appliance. We recommend that you get a consultation with our orthodontist to see if your case will be best treated with Invisalign.

Q: How long does treatment take?

A: The length of treatment depends on the severity of the case and can only be determined by a consultation with professeionals at Southfield Family Dental Center.
